Sometimes, it’s better without context

Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker to Sir William Jenner, in October 1879:

Allow me to introduce Mr. Ryder from Fiji who has brought a really interesting drug.

Hooker was a botanist. Jenner was a physician who had “a practical and real faith in the power of drugs.”1 Knowing that makes it rather more likely that this document actually relates to Science, rather than the sort of party where Charles Babbage Facts are not necessarily appreciated.
